Walter Tomchek, 82, of Newton, died Monday night at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Born Feb. 14, 1875, he spent his entire life on the family homestead in the Newton area and on July 25, 1898, married Frances Mrotek of Newton. Mrs. Tomchek preceded her husband in death on Jan. 23, 1949. Mr. Tomchek was a member of St. Casimer’s Catholic Church, Northeim, and also a member of the parish choir and Holy Name Society. He is survived by five sons, Zeno of Newton, Joseph A. Tomchek, of Sheboygan, Bruno and Benjamin of Manitowoc, and Alois of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Oliver (Celia) Landt of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Anton (Anna) Weina of Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 9:30 a.m. at the Lesche-Bergner Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and 10 a.m. at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, Northeim. The Rev. Arthur Danks, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of services Thursday. The Holy Name Society will recite the rosary at the funeral home at 9 p.m. tonight.
