Funeral services for Joseph Pekarske, 88, of route one, Newton, who died Saturday at his home, following a lingering illness, were held at 9:30 am Wednesday at the Leschke Funeral Home, Manitowoc and at 10 am at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. The Rev. Anthony Betley of Suamico, former pastor of the parish, the Rev. L.L. Lisowski, present pastor and the Rev. Ray Nowak of Manitowoc were celebrants at the solemn requiem high mass. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Chester Bonk and Eugene Westell, Milwaukee, Thomas and John Pekarske Jr., Manitowoc and Robert and Joseph Pekarske, Newton. He was born June 17, 1866 in Poland and came to Newton in 1888. November 28 he married Miss Monica Leschke and the couple would have observed their 60th wedding anniversary this month. They located on the farm where he died. He was a member of the St. Casimir's Holy Name Society. Survivors are his wife; two sons, John J. of Manitowoc and Max of route 1, Newton; a foster son, Harry Masiak, also of Newton, Route One; two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Bonk of Milwaukee and Mrs. K.C.Westell of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
