Smashup Is Fatal to County Driver Alex Sieracki Dies Saturday Station Wagon Strikes Culvert (paragraph not transcribed about no. of traffic fatalities) Sieracki was killed about 8 p.m. when his 1946 model station wagon crashed into a driveway culvert a half mile east of Newton Station on County Highway U. County traffic police said it was raining at the time. (paragraph not transcribed describing injuries) Runs Off Road Police reported that the eastbound vehicle in which Sieracki was the lone occupant ran off the right side of the highway for no apparent reason and continued down the ditch into the driveway culvert leading into a field on the Otto Stuckman property. The impact apparently tossed Sieracki against the right front windshield which was broken out. County Highway U runs only about two miles in length from Newton to Northeim, according to officers. The shoulder of the road at the point of the accident is relatively narrow and was in a soft condition due to rainfall. Capt. Henry Pleuss of the county traffic police said Sieracki was apparently on his way to a home where he has been staying on South 10th Street just south of Silver Creek Park. He had been helping with seeding operations on a brother's farm in the Newton area earlier. Native of Manitowoc Sieracki was born Oct. 9, 1906 in the city, son of the late Anton and Anna Mrotek Sieracki. He was a farmer. In 1951 he married Mrs. Rose Prieble. She died Dec. 19, 1953.
