John Sitkawitz, 87, of 1143 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Sunday evening at his home following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Leschke-Bergner Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Landowski will officiate and burial will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery at Northeim. He was born May 12, 1873 at Newton, son of the late Felix and Mary Shuminski Sitkawitz. He married the former Rose Tomchek, sister of Manitowoc Police Chief Frank Tomchek, on Feb. 13, 1900, and the couple operated a farm in Newton until retiring and moving to Manitowoc in 1945. His wife died in 1959. Mr. Sitkaitz was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary congregation. Surviving are one son, Charles of Manitowoc; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Orchekowski, Mrs. Benjamin Muchowski, and Mrs. Elmer Pech, all of Manitowoc; four brothers, Joseph of Manitowoc, George of Milwaukee, Lawwrence of Chicago and Louis of Thiensville, is.; sister, Mrs. Susan Karbowski of Green Bay; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
