Mrs. Frank Mella, 62, lifelong resident of city and county, died Monday evening at the Newton farm home following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Casimer’s Catholic church in Newton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Mella, nee Mathilda Zarnik, was born in this city in 1882 and was married to Frank Mella in 1907. They took up their residence at the Newton farm. Survivors are the husband; seven daughters, Mrs. Stanley Tadych, Mrs. Fred Bast, Cecelia and Agnes of this city; Rita at home, Mrs. Wilbert Mallman and Phyllis of Evanston, Ill.; son, Leonard, on the home farm; three brothers, Ignatz and Casmir of this city, Walter of Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Matczynski and Mrs. Agnes Musual, both of this city; and eight grandchildren. The body will be moved to the Mella home Wednesday from the Leschke funeral home. Mrs. Mella was a member of the Rosary society of the St. Casimir’s congregation, whose members will recite the rosary at the home at 8 o’clock Thursday evening.
